The other day Vanessa posted ten of her favourite small pleasures in life so I thought I’d join in, as did Monkey With Glasses. Here’s my list…

  1. Warm summer nights
  2. Butterflies in your stomach
  3. The smell of baking
  4. Looking in the mirror and liking what you see
  5. The smell of fresh laundry
  6. Ticking something off the “to do” list
  7. Discovering a new song
  8. Silence between best friends
  9. Looking through old photo albums
  10. A cup of tea

What are your favourite simple things?

I. Tonight Steph Anne brought a website to my attention – you know, one of those where you’re taken over by jealousy because you didn’t come up with the idea yourself! FutureMe.org is a website that gives you the opportunity to “e-mail your future self” and it let’s you choose a date right up until 2060; I mean, these people are genius’. In a little while I’m going to send an e-mail to myself dated 10 years from now – I’m not going to reveal what I say because I don’t want it written down anyway; it’s a surprise that way. I’m contemplating sending a couple to my friends as well just to see what happens – hopefully we’ll still be friends in 10 years time but you never know.

II. I am a geek when it comes to facts and figures, and quirky information so I was eternally grateful when my incredibly bored self stumbled upon What Happened In My Birth Year. It might not be your cup of tea and it’s not for those in a rush because it takes a while to complete, but it’s worth a mini visit ;) Just for your information the biggest film of 1988, my birth year, was Rain Man and I’ve still not managed to see it even though it’s highly recommended.

III. I remember coming across this website a couple of years ago but I found it again, and it never fails to make me chuckle. Movie-A-Minute manages to fit some of our much loved movies into a few sentences and it does a pretty good job. Some of my favourites are…

TITANIC
Leonardo DiCaprio : Your social class is stuffy. Let’s dance with the ship’s rats and have fun.
Kate Winslet : You have captured my heart. Let’s run around the ship and giggle.
(The ship SINKS.)
Leonardo DiCaprio : Never let go.
Kate Winslet : I promise. (lets go)
THE END

PRETTY WOMAN
Julia Roberts : I’m a hooker, but I don’t kiss on the lips.
Richard Gere : I have a lot of money.
Julia Roberts : (smooch)
THE END

IV. And finally, to end on something thought provoking (literally), I’ve found this post. It’s the top ten list of common faults in human thought such as the “Herd mentality” which is, as it says, moving with a herd – following the majority and creating fads. I always like to think that I don’t do this but I do – I mean, I got into blogging because a lot of people were doing it. I wax my eyebrows because my friends do it. It also goes into how unattractive things can also become popular – what about those TV talent show freaks who aren’t very good but they seem to get a cult following? Anyway, that’s just one – have a look at the other nine and tell me if you relate to any of them. :)

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend, and are looking forward to welcoming April in on Thursday – by the way, where did March go??
